My Priorities
Real Issues Affecting Leawood
Key
Priorities
Having grown up here, I have an ingrained love for Leawood. Having worked and lived in cities across the country, I've gained a deep appreciation for what truly sets Leawood apart.
Leawood remains one of the most sought-after places to live in the metro area, but we didn't get here by chance. Thoughtful leadership, strong civic engagement, and smart long-term planning paved the way to where we are now. They can also guide us into the future.
City councilmembers must listen as much as they lead, and I believe that no single issue outweighs another when it comes to quality of life. Here are a few key areas I intend to focus on, but please reach out and let me know what matters to you as well.
It's our community, let's shape it together!

1
Quality of Life
We're fortunate to live in a city that prioritizes community-centered design. In Ward 3, we enjoy access to some of Leawood's most beloved parks, Ironwoods Park and Gezer Park, as well as access to the scenic trail network. I will advocate for continued investment in these spaces, recognizing that parks, greenways, and well-maintained public amenities are the foundation of a livible, family-friendly city.
Leawood is one of the most sought after communities in the entire metro and I believe strongly that it deserves to be a place where everyone from young families to retirees feel like they have a home and a voice.
2
Fiscal Responsibiltiy
Leawood's success is built on careful financial stewardship, and I will continue that tradition.
As a legislative staff member in the U.S. House of Representatives, I worked directly on the federal government budget year over year through the appropriations process. As a city councilmember, I will ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and major projects undergo proper scrutiny.
I believe in long-term planning over short-term fixes, and ensuring we invest in what makes Leawood so great: safe neighborhoods, well-kept parks, and infrastructure that serves everyone.
3
Community Safety
As someone who walked to Leawood Elementary and Middle School every day growing up, I know how important safe neighborhoods and traffic patterns are not only for kids, but for everyone. Whether it's improving visibility at crosswalks, evaluating speeding concerns, or listening to residents about specific traffic problem areas, I'll work to ensure our neighborhoods remain safe spaces to live, play, and exercise.
In addition to traffic and pedestrian safety, I support strong partnerships with our police and fire departments. Efficient emergency response planning and investment help our city respond quickly and effectively in times of need.
4
City Maintenance & Infrastructure
Strong cities don't just look good, they run well. I will advocate for practical, proactive investments in the everyday essentials that keep Leawood running smoothly: from stormwater drainage to road repairs, to reliable snow removal and seasonable upkeep.
Every resident deserves well-maintained streets, sidewalks, and utilities. That's why I'll also push for transparency and accountability in how we prioritize maintenance projects across all neighborhoods.
5
Mindful Growth
I believe Leawood can preserve what makes it an exceptional place to live while offering growth opportunities through mindful, smart development. That means supporting development that reflects our community's values, meets the needs of current and future residents, and respects the character of existing neighborhoods.
Leawood also benefits from thoughtful commercial development. Town Center and Park Place are examples of how these spaces add value without compromising our character.
Whether it's evaluating housing options, balancing green space with new development, or ensuring that our city is a welcoming spaces for families young and old, I'll advocate for thoughtful action that strengthens--not strains--our community.
